Greater Expectations wins Distinguished Achievement Award

July 9th, 2009

Stenhouse Publishers’ title Greater Expectations: Teaching Academic Literacy to Underrepresented Students has won the Association of Educational Publishers’ Distinguished Achievement Award for the best professional development title in the category of School Improvement.

Greater Expectation, by high school English teacher Robin Turner, offers pragmatic, proven methods for better preparing underrepresented students for higher education. Greater Expectations was selected from dozens of titles submitted by publishers around the country. The award was accepted by Stenhouse general manager Dan Tobin at a dinner ceremony held June 12 at AEP’s Annual Summit in Washington, DC.

“We’re very pleased that Greater Expectations has won the Distinguished Achievement Award,” said Tobin.  “Robin Turner has written a compelling book about the success he’s had helping hundreds of Latino students acquire the skills they need to succeed in college.”
