Poetry Friday: This is my room

June 4th, 2010

We have another great student poem this morning! This one comes from Aimee Buckner’s recent book, Notebook Connections: Strategies for the Reader’s Notebook. In Chapter 4, one of Aimee’s students, Summer, uses Miriam Moss’ poem This is the Tree: A Story of the Baobab as a sample for her own poem. She is practicing using prepositional phrases to add details.

This is My Room
by Summer

This is my room
with a big warm bed,
that I come to every night.
This is my room,
with a walk-in closet
where my new clothes hang.
This is my room
that is quiet and peaceful.
I love to look outside.
This is my room
where my dog loves to hide
after a bath.
