Part II of our video podcast with Johanna Riddle

September 30th, 2009

A few weeks ago we posted a video podcast with Johanna Riddle, author of Engaging the Eye Generation, who encouraged tech-fearing teachers to just “be brave and jump in.” In the second part of the podcast, Johanna talks about the ways children learn and encourages veteran teachers to learn from their tech-savvy younger colleagues.

Every time I listen to Johanna Riddle talk I hear something I need to write down. She has a way of wording things that just hits home to me. As a coach, I am trying to get teachers to understand, as Johanna says, “Information alone is thin – it’s what we do in the classroom with that information that makes it matter.” I think it is a hard thing for teachers to turn the learning over to the students a little more, but they are easy adopters of using technology. We’re the ones that need time, they don’t.

For anyone that hasn’t read Johanna’s book, it’s well worth reading!
