Even though there's still a winter chill in the air, it's not too early to make summer plans for your professional learning. Here are a few ideas to help you get started!
A great, affordable way to give your teaching expertise a boost is to collaborate with colleagues and do a book study. Pick a professional book on a topic from which many teachers can benefit--one that preferably comes with a Study Guide--and plan to meet with your group periodically over the summer months. Study Guides are useful because they give structure to your book clubs and ensure you get the most out of the book. You can find a list of Stenhouse Study Guides HERE. And take advantage of our special Book Study Bundle offer!
In-School Professional Development
Stenhouse offers in-school professional learning on a variety of topics with our authors--teachers and former teachers who feel most at home in the classroom and love to work side-by-side with teachers and bring the concepts from their books to life. You can bring them in for full-day workshops, coaching and mentoring, sustained visits, and even video conferencing. Take a look at what we have to offer in the chart below. The SDE Annual National Conference
Who says you can't have fun with professional development? The Staff Developers for Educators (SDE) team have discovered the perfect balance of joy and meaningful professional learning and they bring it every year to their National Conference in Las Vegas. They offer 400+ sessions in five different grade- and topic-focused strands. It's a great time to do what every teacher deserves: re-group, re-strategize, and rejuvenate. Sign up HERE.
It can be a challenge to find funding for PD, so our friends at Staff Development for Educators (SDE) came up with a list of resources that might help you. Check it out HERE.
